PCM Unlocks and SGW Bypasses for Mopar V8s
For all Mopar V8 models from 2015 onward, unlocking the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is essential for enabling aftermarket tuning. This service is included in our tuning package. If your vehicle has already been unlocked for Diablo or another tuning solution, we may be able to convert it for your needs. Please reach out to us if you're uncertain about your vehicle's status.
For models from 2018 and beyond, in addition to PCM unlocking, the factory security gateway must be bypassed for tuning. We offer a passive bypass device that can typically be installed in just five minutes; however, some vehicles may require removal of the radio and dash bezel. We provide detailed instructions if needed. This bypass can be used during the tuning process and removed if security is a concern, or it can be left in permanently.
Reducing Downtime
To ensure optimal results, we recommend mailing us your PCM before or during any modifications on your vehicle. While we process and ship PCMs the same day in 99.9% of cases, shipping time can cause delays. By sending your PCM as soon as your vehicle is down for mods, you can significantly reduce or eliminate downtime waiting for shipping.
Please ensure you fill out the unlock form, which should have been emailed to you upon package purchase. This form is also available [here](insert pdf hyperlink). It is crucial to complete it accurately and legibly; include it with your PCM when shipping. This will help avoid delays in processing and return shipping. Any PCMs sent without this information will remain on the shelf until the necessary details are provided.
Important Note on Tuning
The unlock process operates independently of HP Tuners and the tuning process. Unless special arrangements are made, no modified tuning will be loaded onto the PCM when it is returned. If it was stock when sent to us, it will remain stock upon return. In some conversion cases, a virgin OEM stock base will be flashed to provide a clean starting point.

Thermostat Recommendations
We strongly recommend a 180°F aftermarket thermostat, as these engines tend to run hot, which is not ideal for optimal performance. The GATES 34253 thermostat is compatible with most modern Hemi engines and is available through RockAuto or local parts stores.

Tuning Devices
Currently, only HP Tuners devices are supported for Mopar tuning. This includes MPVI2, MPVI2+, MPVI3, and all versions of RTD. You may also need a compatible "Pro Link" to log an analog wideband for setups that require it.

Wideband Installation
Factory supercharged Hemis utilize wideband O2 sensors for a broader range of air-fuel ratio readings. However, non-supercharged vehicles are equipped only with narrowband O2 sensors, which provide limited information (rich or lean). Therefore, all non-factory supercharged Mopar V8s should have a quality aftermarket wideband installed for precise fueling calibration. We highly recommend the Ballenger AFR500 series with the NTK sensor. If needed, we can include a sensor setup with your tuning package. The only exception is if you plan to use a chassis dyno equipped with a quality wideband system.

Spark Plug Guidance
Mopar's factory spark plugs tend to be on the hotter side. We strongly recommend using a one-step colder plug for most applications. For higher horsepower builds, a two-step colder plug and a tighter gap may be necessary. A gap of .035” works well for naturally aspirated builds, while .025” is ideal for boosted setups. We recommend using NGK iridium plugs: the part number LFR6AIX (6619) is suitable for naturally aspirated applications, while LFR7AIX (2309) is appropriate for boosted configurations, including Hellcat models. Aftermarket heads may require taper seat style plugs, such as LTR6IX (6509) or LTR7IX (6510). If you're unsure, please contact us or verify with your engine builder regarding compatible spark plug specifications.

Transmission Tuning
Currently, 6-speed trucks are not supported for tuning. However, all 5-speed and 8-speed transmissions are fully supported, and tuning is highly recommended even for basic setups. Significant improvements in elapsed time (ET) for drag racing can be achieved by optimizing transmission settings. No unlocks or special hardware are required to tune the transmission along with an engine tune.

Vehicle Modification Data Entry Points
To facilitate accurate tuning, please provide information on the following:
- Internal Engine Modifications (displacement, compression)
- Induction Modifications (intake, intake manifold, aftermarket forced induction)
- Valvetrain Modifications (camshaft specifications, VVT settings)
- Fuel Injectors (make, model, flow rate; currently, only Injector Dynamics and Fuel Injector Clinic
