Getting Started with the AVID Tuning Device
Step 1: Unboxing Your AVID Device
- Check Contents: Ensure that your AVID tuning device package includes the tuning device, necessary cables (OBD2 cable and USB cable), and any user manuals or guides.
- Inspect for Damage: Examine the device and cables for any physical damage that may have occurred during shipping.
Step 2: Connect the AVID Device

Locate the OBD2 Port:
- Find the OBD2 port in your vehicle, which is typically located under the dashboard near the driver's seat.

Hook Up the Device:
- Plug the AVID device into the OBD2 port of your vehicle.

Turn the Key On:
- Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine. This action powers up the vehicle's ECU and the AVID device.
Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi Hotspot Connection:
- Use your smartphone or another device to create a Wi-Fi hotspot if you do not have a functional Wi-Fi network available.

Connect AVID to Wi-Fi:
- Follow the on-screen prompts on your AVID device to connect it to the Wi-Fi hotspot for updates.
Step 4: Update the Device
- First and Foremost, Update:
- After connecting to Wi-Fi, navigate to the update section in the AVID interface.
- Follow the prompts to check for and install any available updates to ensure your device is running the latest software.
Step 5: License the Device
- Sync and License:
- Once the device is updated, go to the “Sync” or “License” option in the menu.
- Follow the prompts to license the device to your vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).
Step 6: Sync Files
- File Synchronization:
If your tuner has already sent you files, you should receive them and a datalogging configuration file once you sync. After licensing, proceed to sync necessary files to the device, including tuning files and configurations relevant to your vehicle. Confirm that the synchronization is successful.
Step 7: Flash the Tune File
- Flash the Tune:
To flash the tune file, go to the FLASH option in the menu, select the appropriate folders to locate the tune file you want to upload, and then choose the option to write to the vehicle.
Step 8: Datalogging

Start Datalogging:
To datalog, simply go to the gauges screen and select the Ford gas logging configuration. To begin recording, touch any gauge, and you will see the Start Log button at the bottom. When it's recording, you will notice the "V" in the AVID turn red in the left-hand corner. -
Stop Datalogging:
To stop the recording, touch any gauge again, and you will see the Stop Log button at the bottom. -
Sending Logs to Your Tuner:
To send the logs to your tuner, go to Sync and hit the SYNC Log button. - Please inform us once you have submitted logs so we can review them.
