How to Read stockfile with the HPTuners RTD Device and a Windows Laptop
1. Initial Setup:
- Install HPTuners Software: Download and install the HPTuners RTD Flasher software from the following link: RTD Flasher Download on your laptop.
- Connect the RTD Device: Use the USB cable to connect the HPTuners RTD device to your laptop.
2. Reading the Stock File:
- Power on the Vehicle: Turn on the ignition to power the vehicle’s electronics.
- Open the HPTuners Software: Launch the HPTuners RTD Flasher application on your laptop.

Read the Vehicle File: Click the green vehicle read button to read open the vehicle read box.

Once the read box is open: Please click the read button to start reading your stockfile
If it does not auto recognize the hardware, you may have to select it from the drop down menu. Some examples:
2011-2014 Mustang/F150 is Copperhead
2015-2017 Mustang/F150/ and all GT350 is a TC1791
2018-2023 Mustang is TC298
2018-2020 F150 5.0 is TC298
2020-2022 GT500 is TC298B
Explorer ST is TC298B
Godzilla 7.3 is TC298B
GT500 TCM is CR-C75
- Saving the Stock File: Please save your stockfile somewhere safe and easily accessible. Make sure to hang onto it for future reference or if you need to return to stock later.
- Email the File for Custom Tune: After saving the file for future reference, please reply to your ticket with the stockfile!
Tips:
- Ensure your vehicle battery is fully charged before beginning the tuning process to prevent interruptions or keep the vehicle on a battery charger while reading/writing tunes.
- Always keep a backup of the original file in case you need to revert back to the factory settings
